Snow Safety - Prevention Training Summary:

The first step in preventing cold weather emergencies is to layer your clothing. Thick insulating gloves, multiple shirts, a zip-up jacket, and a thick, insulating water repellant coat all help keep water out and your temperature up. Multiple layers of pants with water resistant snow pants sealed around ankles and tight around the waste also help keep your core temperature up. Once your core temperature drops below 98.6 degrees, you can start going into hypothermia.
