One important way to prevent hypothermia is by wearing a knit cap to prevent heat from escaping from the head. Also, wear proper dry, fitted gloves, weather-proof boots, drink plenty of liquids, get the proper amount of sleep, and get proper nutrition. Also, take periodic breaks inside the warmth to recover from cold conditions.
Signs and symptoms of hypothermia include:
- Uncontrollable shivering
- Lips get cold and rubbery
- Confusion
- Fatigue
If these symptoms begin to get worse or escalate into feeling warm and comfortable, you may be getting into frostbite.
